CardioTalk
Conducting HCI Research for Aalborg University Hospital as part of my MSc thesis at Aalborg University, Denmark
Overview
What is CardioTalk?
CardioTalk is a web-based application for remote monitoring patients with implanted devices. Patients were holding a personal account in which they logged in daily for submitting health related questionnaires. The results were stored in a database and a graphical illustration of history results was available both for patients and doctors.

CardioTalk serves the role of a technology probe targeted on capturing context of use and user needs. For that purpose, design was kept simple whilst high contrast colours were used so as to ensure clarity of use by elderly people. The overall aim was to study how such applications can improve health care remote monitoring services as well as patient engagement.
My role
External Collaborator at AUH
As an external collaborator of Aalborg University Hospital I was responsible for conducting user interviews with ICD patients for enhancing the remote monitor service I designed and developed.

What is an ICD patient?
An implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) is a small battery-powered device placed in your chest to monitor your heart rhythm and detect irregular heartbeats.

Home page & Create new report
From the home page patients can report information regarding their daily health condition as well as browse their history logbook to keep track of disease progression.
Examples of symptoms reporting could be level of chest pain, dizziness and shortness of breath. If needed, comments can be added to better explain what patients are feeling.

Health reporting doctors
Doctors and nurser can browse their patients logbooks and monitor symptoms progression, physiological state, etc.

My publications
MSc Thesis findings are published in top-tier conferences in the field of human-computer interaction.
